I arrived unexpected at GUH by air medevac from my local hospital for emergency treatment of infection and collapse of my cervical spine (neck) resulting in compression of my spinal cord. They made room for me instantly in a specialty ICU and cared for me over five days with calm, caring competence. My surgical and overall health outcomes have been superb. Both teams (neurosurgery and infectious disease) combined expert skills with a personal touch. And ICU staff were beyond-words amazing: nurses, technicians, meal service, housekeeping. It was clear everyone loves their jobs and loves working at GUH. And they made me feel part of the family during my stay. This is what hospital care is meant to be. Excellent coordination with my primary care physicians, in arranging for the 12 weeks of home care I required after discharge, and in providing follow-up for the first year post-surgery. I was so blessed to be treated at GUH and wish a similar experience to any and all who require hospital care.
