Carlsbad is a city in and the county seat of Eddy County, New Mexico, United States. As of 2010, the city population was 26,138. The New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department (ALTSD) provides accessible, integrated services to older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers to assist them in maintaining their independence, dignity, autonomy, health, safety, and economic well-being, thereby empowering them to live on their own terms in their own communities as productively as possible. It has 3 primary ways it interacts with the public and maintains age-friendliness with its residents:
- Aging and Disability Resource Center: The ADRC is here to assist elders, persons with disabilities and caregivers to find services and resources to help them live well and independently.
- Care Transition Program: This free program helps residents transition from long-term care facilities back into a community setting.
- Senior Services: Meals and nutrition, Employment programs, Transportation, Help at home, Senior Centers
